Catherine originally trained with Prof. John Sumpter OBE at Brunel University, starting her career in the field of Aquatic Ecotoxicology and contributing to the internationally renowned research undertaken by Prof. Sumpter’s team, studying Endocrine Disrupters in the Environment. The team were awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for their research in 2011. During her time in this research group, Catherine published many highly cited articles on the topic of Endocrine Disruptors and their effects on fish, as well as on the importance of quality in ecotoxicological research. In recent years, Catherine has specialised in Research Project Management, and has successfully co-ordinated a number of large consortium-based projects, including Pharmas, INTCATCH (both of which were EC-funded) and AdaLab (funded through the CHIST-Era programme).
